Career Advice in Allied Health

A practical, hands-on education is a great first step to a new career in one of the many growing occupations in the healthcare industry. Look for an education that provides not only a thorough and challenging curriculum of the material, but also one that teaches you the skills needed in a rewarding educational environment and offers you externship or clinical experience to build your confidence your first day at your new job. Finally, employers want employees with great "soft skills" - employees who are polite and professional in their interactions with customers, patients and their co-workers. Knowledge, skills and professionalism are top priorities for employers, especially in the challenging and growing health industry.

The Advantage

Arizona College designs its programs to teach you what you need to know. In our classrooms and laboratories using real-world equipment, you'll learn the skills to perform in your chosen occupation.

Arizona College partners with many doctor's offices (family practice as well as specialists), clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, urgent care facilities, chiropractors, physical therapists and other healthcare providers, to give our students practical, hands-on externships in most of our programs. These externships can also lead to employment after graduation.

We also emphasize professionalism. At school, we teach this by modeling the appropriate behavior, requiring dress code and insisting that procedures are done the right way. Through externships and clinicals, students practice professionalism with customers and patients.
