I found out about Arizona College through Career Builder Magazine. I have been contemplating a medical career for some time. Arizona College of Allied Health was the first school I checked into. The presentation of the College and guidance for students was impressive. I signed on the same day and have not been disappointed in my selection.
The skills I have learned by book and clinical practice are thorough. I feel confident when I test that the instructors haev taught me the information I need to guide me to the working world and diversity of medical assisting duties, responsibilities, and knowledge.

After attending classes at Arizona College of Allied Health for nine months, I completed a 160-hour externship at a retail pharmacy. During my externship, I gained experience in using the computer, reading and filling new prescriptions received by the pharmacist. I also learned to unit dose medications and fill old prescriptions. I answered the phone and took orders for refills. When required, I also called doctor offices to get refills approved. Ms. Baughman was very helpful in job placement by informing me of job openings at Del Webb Hospital Pharmacy. I started my first job as a Pharmacy Technician at Del Webb. They have a beautiful pharmacy and the working environment is wonderful. I love my job there! -Marilyn Reading

My externship gave me a true feeling of what it's like to work a 40-hour work week as a medical assistant in a busy medical practice. I came away with real hands-on, practical experience in both front and back office procedures which proved invaluable when I later applied for my first job. The externship brings together 36 weeks of skill exercises, textbook readings, and classroom assignments, and focuses all your energy into meaningful, real-world experience. It's the externship that gives you the confidence to then go to any hiring manager and say with self-assurance that you're ready to work in their offices as a medical assistant.
At Arizona College of Allied Health, I not only learned the skills to be a great medical assistant, but I also learned invaluable job placement and personal interview skills that ensured success in getting multiple job offers after graduation.
