blog postArizona College is pleased to introduce Rose Saunders, EdD, RN, CNE, as the Dean of Nursing for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at Arizona College. Dr. Saunders is responsible for administration and oversight of all aspects of the Nursing program including faculty, curriculum, students, resources and program evaluation and has been leading the nursing program for the last several months.  Please take a moment to get to know our Dean of Nursing!

Dr. Saunders received a diploma in nursing from Jameson Hospital School of Nursing in New Castle, PA. She continued her formal education at the University of Pittsburgh where she earned both a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) and a master’s degree (MN) with specialization in nursing of children. She later received a doctoral degree in Higher Education (EdD) from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.

She began her nursing career as a staff nurse at Children’s hospital in Pittsburgh and soon began supervising students as a clinical instructor. Her career continued to expand into various roles of educating future nurses.

Dr. Saunders’ professional career includes various roles such as faculty, Associate Director, Dean of Nursing, Vice President Professional Schools, Director, online RN to BSN program, and Consultant.  She has received numerous awards, grants and certifications throughout her career and continues to maintain membership in several professional organizations. She served as an accreditation site visitor and was a member of the Board of review for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and chair of the Certified Nurse Educator Commission. She is currently chair of the strategic planning committee for the Arizona League for Nursing.

Dr. Saunders is excited to have the opportunity to lead a well educated, experienced faculty team as they launch this innovative baccalaureate nursing program at the Mesa campus of Arizona College.
