Happy Holidays to Come

Uncategorized

During the holiday season, it truly is better to give than to receive. This year, Arizona College is getting back to the basics of what the holidays are really about with our annual Arizona College Christmas Angel Tree and Thanksgiving Adopt a Family events, which are all about providing assistance and support to those students who are in need of a helping hand.

During the holiday season, Arizona College’s Director of Student Services & Career Services will be coordinating these events to give back to select students. During past years, the Thanksgiving Adopt a Family event included feeding four families within the student body full Thanksgiving meals. These meals were complete with everything from the Thanksgiving turkey and all the trimmings, to pumpkin waffles for the next morning’s breakfast, handmade by Arizona College staff members. We are pleased to say, that this year, we were able to adopt eight Arizona College families and provide them with their full Thanksgiving meals.

Arizona College also has its own Christmas Angel Tree event that we will be participating in this holiday season. One family from each Arizona College program will be given holiday gifts (the recipients will be chosen by a nomination process from instructors and program directors based on who has the strongest need). Arizona College Christmas Angel Tree ornaments will be filled out with items in need, and then these donated items will be given to them for the Christmas holiday.

Each of these holiday events provides an amazing experience for those staff and students involved. If you or a fellow classmate could use a hand this holiday season, reach out to Crystal Van Slyke at cvanslyke@arizonacolleg.edu.
