HESI Admission Assessment (A2) Frequently Asked Questions

The HESI A2 Admissions Assessment, administered by Health Education Systems, Inc., uses a percentage-based scoring system. The maximum achievable score on the HESI A2 is 100%. Students receive a percentage score for each individual subtest they complete, and their overall performance is summarized by a cumulative score, which represents the average of all subtest scores.

Valuable Tips For Tackling The HESI A2 Exam:

  • Know the Test Content: As part of your HESI test prep, understand which subjects will be covered, since nursing programs may select different sections of the HESI exam. Focus your study efforts on these key areas.
  • Familiarize Yourself with Test Details: Be aware of the number of questions and the time allotted for the exam.
  • Understand the Scoring System: Instead of traditional letter grades, you’ll receive a score ranging from 100 to 1000. While a higher score is preferable, each nursing program may have its own passing criteria. Consult with your program administrators for specific requirements.
  • Utilize Study Resources: Employ a HESI study guide, use or create flashcards, and establish a study schedule.
  • Identify Weak Areas: If you’re already enrolled in a nursing program, take advantage of HESI practice tests to pinpoint and address your weak spots.
