What inspired you to pursue a career in nursing education?
“I started my nursing career in 1986. I started out in Geriatric Nursing and absolutely fell in love with the senior population. Because both sets of my grandparents passed before I was old enough to know them, these geriatric patients became my “extended family”. To assist them with not only their physical needs but their emotional needs was extremely rewarding. I can’t begin to tell you how many life lessons I learned from those Seniors I provided care for. I believe they helped shape me into the nurse educator that I am today! I always had a love for teaching and once I found nursing education, I knew it was the perfect avenue for me to bring my years of nursing experience into the classroom and help teach, shape, and nurture our future nurses! I feel honored to be a member of such a great profession and a part of future nurses!”
