Dr. Shalonda F. Wilson-Patterson has been a health care provider since 1988 in various administrative, clinical, and academic positions. Dr. Patterson’s experiential skills include ambulatory care, acute care, primary care, perioperative setting, and nursing academia. Her clinical passion has been primary care focused on community health in underserved/uninsured populations and onsite/near-site health centers. She is a licensed Registered Nurse and a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner advocating and addressing health disparities, social determinants of health, and health and wellness education.
Her experience in nursing education includes serving as didactic and clinical faculty, Director, and Campus Dean of Nursing for accelerated ADN and BSN registered nursing programs. In addition, she has served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice and practicum coordinator for MSN Family Nurse Practitioner programs. In nursing academia, the primary focus has been on NCLEX-RN success, elevating programs performing below state board of nursing regulations to success and setting the bar for pass rates above 90% annually.
She volunteers as a clinical consultant for environmental services and infection control departments, where she facilitates building relationships between nursing, EVS, and infection control preventionists and C-suite stakeholders, emphasizing interdepartmental collaboration and communication to ensure improved patient outcomes.
Received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loyola University-Chicago, Master of Science in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner from Saint Xavier University-Chicago, and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice with a focus on nursing education from Georgetown University-Washington, DC. Happily married for more than 25 years to Michael, has one daughter, Michaela, and a fur baby, Kaylon. Loves cruising, reading, and living each day to its fullest.

We understand that students who pursue a BSN degree sometimes have an associate degree or prior experience in nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or ADN-prepared Registered Nurse (RN) or prior clinical experience in hospital rotations. If you do have prior general educational credits, you may be able to transfer those credits. Transferring credits can get you on track to complete your program in less time and at a lower cost.
