Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick visits Arizona College

Uncategorized

On January 6th, 2014, Arizona College-Mesa Campus had a special visit from Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick.  She toured the campus, had a live demonstration with our Simulation Manikin 3G in the Nursing Laboratory and had an informative meeting with select Arizona College students including Shawnessey Sledge, Matthew Trenholm, Jacqueline Anderson, Maia Nachie and Marlene Shiprak.  Some of the items discussed were their experience at Arizona College, veteran’s education and benefits and what their future holds after graduation.

Ms. Kirkpatrick also met with executives from Arizona College, and from other colleges including Pima Medical Institute, Universal Technical Institute and Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences.  It was a great opportunity for these colleges to have a collaborative meeting with Ms. Kirkpatrick.

Ms. Kirkpatrick was born and raised in Arizona and currently resides in Flagstaff.  Her father ran a general store and her mother was a schoolteacher.  She graduated from Blue Ridge High School, and worked her way through the University of Arizona, earning a bachelor’s degree and then a law degree.

Ms. Kirkpatrick has enjoyed a flourishing career by serving the State of Arizona in various positions, including Deputy County Attorney, City Attorney, Arizona House of Representatives, U.S. House of Representatives and the Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

Thank you to Ms. Kirkpatrick for taking time out of her busy schedule to visit with us.
