Pre-Licensure Massage Therapy Training is the First Step

Before you can apply for licensure in massage therapy, you must graduate from an approved massage therapy school such as Arizona College. Applicants must satisfy one of two education requirements to apply for their license:

  1. Graduate with at least 700 hours of completed coursework.
  2. Receive a certification from NCBTMB or another Board-approved agency and graduate with at least 500 hours of completed coursework.

There are a number of factors to consider when choosing a Massage Therapy training program, including the duration of the program and class schedules.

Massage Therapy training programs vary in length and style. The Massage Therapist Program at Arizona College takes 35 weeks to complete, with new class sessions beginning every 5 weeks.

Obtaining an Arizona Massage Therapy License

After completing all required coursework and graduating, Arizona College graduates are eligible to become massage therapists. First, they will need to apply for an Arizona Massage Therapy License through the Arizona State Board of Massage Therapy. The Massage Therapy training program at Arizona College provides students with the knowledge, skills, and expertise needed to successfully apply for licensure.

Arizona Massage Therapy licenses are valid for two years, at which time they will need to be renewed, In order to renew an Arizona Massage Therapy License, you must successfully complete a minimum of 24 hours towards continuing education.
